Fuji Shiba-sakura Festival

We have been to the Fuji Shiba-sakura Festival, a talked-about event. Although we visited there on a weekday in order to avoid the congestion, we got stuck in a traffic jam caused by the festival. After parking our car, we walked along a pavement but it was already very busy. We were walking in the crowd and feeling gloomy. However, when we got the site, we were astonished because it looked like a fairyland. About 800,000 shiba-sakura were blooming in the enormous area situated in the foothills of Mount Fuji. On the day of our visit, peak bloom had already passed but the contrast of colours was beautiful against a background of Mount Fuji. It was the perfect weather to admire the mountain.

There are some spots for taking a picture of shiba-sakura together with Mount Fuji.

The most popular photo spot was a small mound of siba-sakura with a shape resembled Mount Fuji. You could take a picture of the ‘Double-Fuji’.

Furthermore, there is a food area so that you can enjoy local food including Fujinomiya yakisoba, yoshida-udon and houtou.

You should visit there if you have never experienced it. The predicted peak bloom dates can be found on the official website.
